UPDATE — August 25, 2026 Unfortunately, this situation with Empire Chevrolet of Huntington is still unresolved. The dealership made an error with my original transaction after contracts were signed and I had already taken delivery of the vehicle. I cooperated fully, returned the vehicle, and have continued working with them to find a reasonable solution. My biggest disappointment now is management’s lack of accountability. One proposed resolution would have left me paying more than what I originally agreed to before delivery. I have repeatedly been told that Empire is “bending over backwards” to make a deal work, yet I have screenshots of the advertised vehicle pricing, my original paperwork, and other documentation, and I have yet to see a meaningful dealership concession demonstrated to me. I am not asking Empire to eliminate financial obligations that belong to me. I am asking them to take meaningful responsibility for the mistake and the substantial inconvenience and stress it has caused. A reasonable courtesy incentive or dealership concession toward making a replacement deal work would demonstrate that accountability. Instead, management appears willing to walk away from the deal and lose a customer rather than find a mutually acceptable resolution. I have remained patient, flexible, and willing to work with them. As of August 25, however, no resolution has been reached. Very disappointing experience with Empire Chevrolet of Huntington Pre-Owned. I purchased a 2026 Chevrolet Equinox, signed all the paperwork, obtained insurance, took delivery, and drove the vehicle home believing the deal was complete. Less than 24 hours later, I was contacted and told the dealership had failed to include the New York sales tax in the transaction and that I needed to return. I went straight there after work to resolve an error I did not create. The dealership acknowledged the mistake, but I felt dismissed by the General Manager and finance manager, Oscar Frank, rather than seeing a meaningful effort to preserve the deal. I was essentially given the choice of moving into an older 2023 vehicle or returning the Equinox and taking my Jeep back. Ultimately, the deal was unwound and I left in my Jeep. I understand that I am responsible for legally required sales tax. My issue is that the dealership prepared the numbers, contracts, and delivery without including it. Given that the error was theirs, I would have appreciated an effort to absorb some of the financial impact, provide an additional discount, or otherwise work with me to preserve the deal. I do want to recognize Joe, my salesperson, and Cassandra, who handled the insurance. They were both pleasant, professional, and the bright spots of the experience. Mistakes happen. How a business handles its mistakes matters. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with how management handled this one. I strongly recommend buyers verify that taxes, registration, financing, and the complete out-the-door figures are finalized before taking delivery.

My experience with Empire Chevrolet of Huntington Pre-Owned started positively but ended extremely disappointingly. I worked with Joe in sales, who was pleasant and professional, to purchase a 2026 Chevrolet Equinox. I completed the paperwork, worked with Oscar Frank in finance, obtained insurance, signed the contracts, took delivery, and drove the Equinox home believing the transaction was complete. Less than 24 hours later, I was contacted and told that the dealership had failed to include the applicable New York sales tax when structuring the deal. I went directly to the dealership after work to try to resolve the issue. The dealership acknowledged that the sales tax had been missed on their end. I completely understand that I am responsible for legally required taxes. My frustration is with how the dealership handled its mistake after the vehicle had already been delivered to me. I felt essentially dismissed by the General Manager and finance manager when I asked whether the dealership could work with me to preserve the original deal. Given the circumstances, I would have appreciated the dealership absorbing some of the financial impact, providing an additional discount, or finding another reasonable solution. Instead, I was essentially given two choices: move into an older 2023 vehicle that fit the revised numbers or return the 2026 Equinox and take my Jeep back. Ultimately, after having the Equinox for less than 24 hours, the transaction was unwound and I left in my Jeep. I do want to specifically recognize Joe and Cassandra, who assisted with the insurance process. Both treated me well and were the bright spots of the experience. Mistakes happen. What matters is how a dealership responds when one happens. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with management’s handling of this situation and their unwillingness to find a reasonable way to address the financial impact of an acknowledged dealership error. My advice to future buyers: before taking delivery, independently verify the sales tax, registration fees, trade payoff, final amount financed, lender approval, and complete out-the-door price, even after you’ve signed the paperwork.
