If you're looking for a dealership that excels at selling cars but develops a severe case of amnesia the moment you drive off the lot, Lia Hyundai has perfected the formula. I purchased my vehicle in January 2025, and the problems started before I even left the lot. It was a dealer trade, yet no one thought to verify that both key fobs actually belonged to the vehicle or even worked. The center console was also cracked. Apparently, their pre-delivery inspection consists of confirming the car has four wheels and hoping for the best. Getting a replacement key should have taken days. Instead, it became an 18-month masterclass in delay tactics. I was told they were "waiting for the technician," that he'd be there "next week," or that someone would call me. If excuses qualified for Olympic events, Lia Hyundai would be bringing home the gold. After six months of excuses, they offered to let me purchase vent visors and mud flaps at cost as a goodwill gesture. I ordered BOTH front and rear vent visors, along with the mud flaps. Then...radio silence. Another eight months passed before I finally received the magical phone call that "everything was in" and my appointment was scheduled. Against all evidence to the contrary, I assumed someone had actually verified that statement before asking me to rearrange my schedule. That assumption lasted about five minutes. The replacement key fob was missing the laser-cut emergency key, making it incomplete. As for the vent visors, I wasn't informed until I arrived that rear visors don't even exist for this vehicle. Fascinating information, especially considering I specifically ordered front AND rear months earlier. A 30-second phone call could have saved everyone the trouble. Instead, they let me show up anyway, presumably because disappointing customers is easier in person. At this point, this isn't bad luck; it's institutionalized incompetence. Every "We'll call you" meant I had to call them. Every "next week" turned into another month. Every promise came with an invisible asterisk. The only thing Lia Hyundai handled efficiently was the sale itself; and I'm fairly certain that had more to do with it being the end of the month than any commitment to customer service. Once the paperwork was signed, I went from valued customer to unwanted interruption. Eighteen months later, I still don't have what should have been resolved during my first week of ownership. To make matters even better, they're no longer returning my calls, despite the fact that they still owe me the laser-cut key that completes the replacement fob. If Lia Hyundai struggles this much with a key fob, a cracked console, and ordering accessories correctly, I can't imagine trusting them with an actual repair. I'd have more confidence leaving my car with a group of caffeinated raccoons armed with socket wrenches. There are dealerships that earn customers through honesty, communication, and competence. Lia Hyundai appears to be conducting an ongoing experiment to determine how many chances one customer is willing to give.

I used the online scheduler to make an appointment to drop off my car for maintenance and have lyft drive me to and from work. Appt scheduled for 6am (this was the time available her their site) but when I got the text to confirm the appointment it did not list a time. I called them to confirm the time and it took over 15 minutes for someone to answer the phone, the person that I spoke to said the website was wrong and that was not a time they could do since they open at 7am. She told me that it takes about 15 mins to check me in and then they would have to order the Lyft. I said well that does not work for me since I work at 8 am. Her reply was do you want to drop the car off tomorrow at 7am or not. I told her I was not happy with that and she put me on hold for about 5 mins. When she came back she said I am having a bad day and refused to help me. I asked for a manager and she transferred me to their voice mail. I left a message and did not get a call back. I called the next day in the afternoon asked for a manager and they transferred me to the assistant managers voice mail. I left another message. Its been 3 days with no phone call from Lia's service department. That really is shows me how much they care about their customers. I would not recommend them to anyone.

Do not purchase a vehicle from Lia Hyundai of Albany NY. They lied to me multiple times regarding my vehicle and I am now out $4000 and have a major paperwork disaster with the IRS because of them. On September 20, 2025, I purchased a used 2023 Hyundai Kona EV from Lia Hyundai of Albany. Our salesperson was Justin Pakatar. Before I viewed the car, I confirmed over the phone that the vehicle IS ELIGIBLE for the Federal pre-owned electric vehicle tax credit (30% of the purchase price, up to $4000). I confirmed again with our sales person that the car IS ELIGIBLE, BEFORE I signed the purchase agreement on September 20. Again, I was told the vehicle qualifies. So I purchased the vehicle for a sales price of (under the IRS limit of $25k). However, that day, when I asked for confirmation that a time of sale report was submitted to the IRS, the finance manager claimed that no one was in the office that day (a Saturday) who could submit the report to the IRS, and was promised that it would be done by the end of the day on Monday (Sept. 22, 2025). I specifically told both the sales person Justin and the finance manager that I did not want to leave the car dealership without proof of submission, however because we had driven 2 1/2 hours and had to engage a babysitter for the entire day, I decided to trust that Lia was not deceiving me and would make good on their promise to submit the report on time. On Monday, I called the office to get a copy of the report, and was unable to reach anyone on the phone who could help me. I finally ended up emailing the office manager Cindy Haight, who reached out to the General Manager Haris Bhatti with no response. On April 1, 2026, I contacted the dealership by phone to get a copy of the time of sale report in order to submit my taxes, I was sent to multiple offices, and no one was able to help. I finally spoke to business manager Jeff Hannagan on April 3, 2026, who said the report needed to be submitted and needed my SSN. I provided this information to him twice. On 4/7/2026 I received an email saying the vehicle is not eligible for the IRS tax credit. I have filed a complain with the BBB and suggest anyone else in this situation do the same. This is fraudulent and extremely unprofessional as they knew before I stepped into their showroom that I would not purchase a vehicle ineligible for the used EV tax credit.

Very busy dealership so they must be doing something right, except for their inspections that is. Came here and waited 2 hours for an inspection for them to barely pass a 5 year old vehicle and bring me a $3000 bill of work they recommended. Most of which was not needed. Stick to your local shops or come here and be dissapointed, your choice.

I had an appointment this morning for 8:15 for an oil change, tire rotation, and state inspection. I thought I'd wait in the waiting room since I had an appointment. How long could it take? Since I had another appointment at 12:30, I went to the desk at 11:00 to see if it was almost done. I was told it hadn't been started yet and would be at least another hour. I asked the service rep what an appointment meant to them and he said it was an appointment to see the service rep, not to start the work. Of course they don't tell you that or list it on the online appointment registration. I took the car that they didn't do anything on and left. What a fiasco!

I was passing through town and had a minor issue with my car. I drove into Service and they took me in right away. I was treated like a VIP I can't thank them enough for the quick resolution to my problem

I purchased my 2022 Tucson elsewhere but chose Lia for service due to its proximity. I take great pride in my vehicle and keep it meticulously maintained. Unfortunately, after two major issues during my most recent visit, I will not be returning. Issue #1: Price Discrepancy. The final invoice ($524) was nearly double the signed estimate ($280). While I did authorize $45 for new wiper blades, I was never forewarned or given an explanation for the remaining discrepancy. It felt like a classic bait-and-switch. Issue #2: Property Damage. I dropped my car off on Saturday for a Monday appointment. It was returned to me with a 6-inch gouge in the windshield, directly in the driver's line of sight. The "Manager"--who refused to speak with me directly--declined to accept responsibility. They offered to "buff it out" while admitting it likely wouldn't work on a scratch that deep, yet refused to replace the glass. They even tried to blame me, suggesting I caused the damage while clearing ice. As someone who keeps their car clean and parked in a garage, I can say with certainty that a 6-inch gouge in my direct field of vision was not there at drop-off. The lack of accountability and the predatory pricing indicates a total lack of respect for the customer. I strongly encourage others to think twice before trusting this location with their vehicle. I will be pursuing a formal complaint with Lia's corporate guest relations, and am also considering filing a DMV Form VS-35 against this facility.

I've had some bad experiences at car dealerships before. Nick Szakolczay not only changed that for me but gave me a friendly, professional & comfortable time showing me the vehicles and all the functions of them. I walked away happier than ever with my brand new car (which I love.) Thanks again!

My 76 year old mother purchased a vehicle from Lia Hyundai on Central Ave in Albany NY and the experience was deeply troubling. She was rushed through paperwork and told to sign without clear explanations of loan terms. She was placed into an 84 month loan with extremely high interest costing tens of thousands more than expected. She was also told the vehicle included roof rails but they were not installed. Families need to shop with their seniors when purchasing vehicles to avoid being taken advantage of.

I took my car for a routine service. What should have taken 15 minutes, and 30 at the max, turned out to take 2 1/2 hours. The worst of it was the attitude of the service manager called Chloe. She did not understand the car or the work the dealership was doing and lied to me about how long it would take, which caused me to miss my morning meetings. After I told the delay was unacceptable and asked her why she'd given me wrong information, she said "have a good day" and flounced off in a huff. I see I'm not the first person here to call out her shocking attitude. The amazing thing was that after this, Lia gave me $850 worth of "recommended" work they wanted me to pay for. Why would I give them my business now? If Lia wants to get in touch with me, they can -- they know who I am and exactly what happened. I'll ignore any automated AI-generated responses asking me to contact them so they can "look further into it," or some other insincere timewasting message.

I was looking at a car, asked if they could do any better, they could not. When the final purchase price was given to me there was a $299.00 charge for a security device, told them I did not want take it off. They said they could not it was on the car, I said well it's mine then, it's on the car, they said no, by this time I just wanted to get the car and go home. That 299 I have to work for. Not right

sales guy was good, had car less than a week and the wiring harness for the brake light kept making the dash light come on and off, replaced the bulb and it kept doing the same thing. talked with the sales guy and two managers, told us they wouldn't cover any thing and expected us to pay a diagnostics fee of $170 just to even look at the car, plus what ever it would be to have the part fixed, mind you this problem started 3 days after we took the car home and I have texts out to the sales guy for the issue that are dated. NYS has a 30 warranty by law from any kind of dealer big or small. Its crazy they expected us to pay a diagnostics fee and parts and labor on something we had less than a week and were told it was a ware and tear issue. How can it be ware and tear when I haven't even drove the car 2 days. Disappointed, Wouldn't recommend. You'd think with a dealership as big as Lia with as much money they make, they would make a small issue like this good for the customer less than a week after buy a car from them. Crazy

My car had recall issues, so I brought it in. They took my car and brought me some paperwork. I signed/initialed the forms then took pictures of the documents on my phone as record of the transaction. "NO!" said my customer service rep. "You are not allowed to have copies." I ignored her. She said it was "illegal". I informed her that if that was true, she would need to call the police. (If I sign something--I need a copy.) After waiting for the rep to respond to her threat, I tracked her down after 15 or so minutes. She said "it wasn't a problem." After a couple hours, I was given an invoice that spoke to the "repairs" that were made. No charge for recalls and apparently, their diagnostic check (which wasn't included in their paperwork), but I was assured that my car had a clean-bill-of-health. EXCEPT NOW THE WINDOW WIPERS DON'T WORK. This was NOT an issue before I brought it to LIA Hyundai of Albany. Even the "free" work they apparently provided will end up costing me elsewhere. Fat chance I'll ask for their expertise or accountability in seeking help. DO NOT BOTHER. EVEN IF ITS FREE. Go to another Hyundai dealership for recall issues.

Good and bad review...first, the AC is GLACIAL!!!For customers and employees, being inside the dealership is akin to being in an igloo. Is it necessary to be so cold, people have to wear sweaters to work or wait for their car?? I had to go outside to warm up. Secondly, i really enjoyed having my appointment with the advisor, Josephine. She was professional, caring and informative. I recommend her highly. Please thank her for me.

I just saw "Nathan's" note. It appears A.I. is still in its development stage. I am from Clifton Park, NY. I originally purchased my car there. How "San Francisco" shows up as location, is a mystery to me. Since, he wanted to "understand more" about the problem (I think it's pretty clear already), I have sent a response to "Nathan" through the email he listed. There is nothing that he could do to get me back as a customer, as I have lost trust in their service department, due to their attitude, lack of attention to detail and poor diagnostic skills (I found the problem where they state their "top" mechanic said there is nothing can be done, YET another dealership confirmed my findings and fixed it). To date, since taking my car to another dealership, I have had no problems. So bottom line is "caveat emptor".

I purchased a Hyundai PHEV from them. The car was lemon and dangerous. This was not the dealership's fault but their customer service was atrocious. On the rare occasion that someone answered my phone calls, they were rude or "accidentally hung up. I have never written a bad review before. I will never buy another vehicle there.

I recently purchased a new vehicle from Lia Hyundai in Albany, and I must commend Anthony, the sales manager, for his exceptional service. Initially, I was not considering a Hyundai; my focus was on higher-end brands in New Jersey. However, my interest was piqued by the outstanding ratings of the Hyundai Santa Fe.Anthony reached out to me personally, and our 40-minute conversation was truly remarkable and far beyond typical sales interactions. With two decades of experience as a CEO and VP in both financial and sales sectors, I can confidently say that Anthony exemplifies excellence in customer service. His extensive knowledge of the product and commitment to providing a seamless experience made the entire process effortless, allowing me to handle everything over the phone--even while I was in Mexico. When I arrived at the dealership, I was impressed by how efficiently I was able to finalize my purchase in under two hours, which included an hour spent with Caitlin, the sales associate, who was also knowledgeable and helpful in explaining the features of the Santa Fe.I cannot praise Anthony enough for his work ethic and expertise. I highly recommend Lia Hyundai to anyone seeking a Hyundai vehicle, as well as to those who value outstanding customer service. Thanks to Anthony and his exceptional team, I am a customer for life.

A big thank you to my coworker Javed for helping me get to my car on a snowy, slippery day. If it weren't for him, I don't know if I would have made it safely. His kindness and support mean a lot! I also want to shout out to Lia Hyundai for always having such a great team and creating a workplace where people genuinely look out for each other. Really grateful for both Javed and this company!

Lia Hyundai of Albany is great; UNTIL you sign the contract of sale. then forget about it. Don't know you anymore. only thing has going for it is it's better than the other Hyundai dealership nearby.

I have called them 4 times in 4 consecutive days and nobody will return my phone calls. I am out of state so I cannot go there. All I need is a bill of sale to prove that my ex husband traded our car in so that I will not be fined by the state of MD for him failing to have insurance on a car he doesn't own in a state where he doesn't reside. This which should take 5 minutes to procure but they haven't got time. Once they have your money, they do not give a hoot about you. DO NOT PROVIDE THEM YOUR BUSINESS. I've also been promised twice by the receptionist that someone would call me back in a certain time frame and that hasn't happened. The customer service is non existent. I will be filing a complaint with the better business bureau. UPDATE: Anthony, I tried calling you and your voicemail wouldn't accept new messages. I'm assuming this is just lip service to repair a negative review on Yelp. Maybe someone in your office could reach out to ME. Today is the 5th day I've called (I did receive a call yesterday and nothing was resolved- another promise of a return call by the end of the day that never materialized).

was there many months ago and still very frustrated with the (lack of) service received from this dealership. $2600 later to still have every single issue I brought It to them with. service manager wants to argue with you and "prove" their mechanics aren't doing the job properly. their staff is filled with clueless mechanics in the back that want to screw you and guess what's wrong instead of properly diagnosing. while the service advisors try to upsell you on additives and additional maintenance that was all already up to date on the vehicle. do NOT take your vehicle here for service or routine maintenance.

Had my 2022 Hyundai Sonata in for routine maintenance on Friday. They did an audio update to my car. Now nothing works on my car; no voice detect options, no "low gas" pop up window, no messenger capabilities, no weather, and maps and navigation don't work....basically all my features don't work except for my radio. Tried to call to talk to service all week and they would not transfer me, I was told I had to make an appointment just to talk to somebody, they gave me an appointment for a month out. I tried emailing service and never got a call back. I stopped in today and the girls at the check out desk were very helpful and were nice enough to get me an appointment for this Monday.....unfortunately, I am going away this weekend and will now have to rent a car. Needless to say I am very upset and starting to hate this car.

Terrible experience in leasing. First they tried to bait and switch a special they were offering. I took a screen shot of their special and when I mentioned it to them the price was changed on their website. The sales manager was upset that I had provided the screen shot and agreed to the original deal. Everything was supposedly fine until it was time to pick up the car. They said that the credit check was never ran and when they ran it the day of pickup we did not qualify. But no courtesy call that there were any issues. STAY AWAY from this dealership.

Worst Hyundai dealership for maintenance! Told them twice now that I don't want my seat moved or mirrors messed with when they do maintenance on it. What do they do? Each time they constantly move all my crap after I told them not to each time. Absolutely unprofessional, had me sitting there for an oil change over 2 hours! There are way better dealerships down in Long Island but unfortunately I moved here for work. Rather go to a jiffylube than deal with the service here! Never again, the employees don't respect other people's vehicles.

I'm so happy I went to the dealership!! Karen was very helpful. I was able to place a deposit over the phone due to me living so far away. I felt like I had support every step of the way. Even with my anxiety of making such a huge purchase, every question was answered, I didn't feel pressured at all, the warranty options were explained. I just felt 100 percent comfortable and confident working with Karen and Emily. I would recommend Lia Hyundai to anyone looking to purchase a new or used vehicle.

The guy who helped me on Monday was nice. I forgot His name (they were all pretty nice I called Monday because my key fob broke and I called to get it replaced and he said that he had to order the parts for it and I could pick it up this weekend and he'd call me (I had to call them which I don't mind) but they have my key fob ready for me and the guy I talked to earlier in the week said he'd talk to service and they would program it to my car. I called today and they said I have to book an appointment for Wednesday at 7:30 but they'll be CLOSED!!!" I need to jam my key in so I was excited to finally get a new one but I had to book a whole new appointment even though they have the part. I don't know why they couldn't just program it and I'll be on my way. I get people get busy but if you already have my part and I called ahead you should be able to help me The guy I talked to said I wasn't in the system when I knew I was and he pretended his system wasn't working and had me waiting for 20 minutes

I went in to speak to someone in service and the guy was very rude telling me that they were closing soon and that they were backed up and he could give me some glue to glue down the rubber piece that was hanging from my car or make an appointment for next week without even looking at my car he was telling me about other people cars that needed to be done and that I could either rip of the rubber glue it down or make an appointment for next week but he couldn't do nothing so I can just drive off with the rubber hanging from my headlight I will never buy another car from them or recommend them to anyone

I recently was in a car accident and had to replace my vehicle. Karen Kingsley from Lia Hyundai, went above and beyond to locate my ideal car. She made the entire process seamless. She was very professional and genuine. I highly recommend Lia Hyundai. I am so happy with experience and car.

i had Karen help me out back a couple months ago in leasing my new car. i can't say enough great things about how amazing she was throughout the entire process. it was my first time ever leasing and she was just the best, I was worried to be at a car dealership and have them know I'd never gone through the process before but if anything it made her even more helpful and she got me an amazing deal with my car. she is absolutely great and would recommend her to anyone when leasing/buying a new car!!-Grace

Terrible service with full of lies, this place is a giant mess. They lack clear communication and transparency. The salesman was nice and helpful, but the manager 'HARRIS BHATTI' is a fraudster. When you visit LIA for a car purchase they always talk to you very nicely and promise you a car on-time delivery, get deposits on the same day and they never show up. They don't call you, When I visit LIA Hyundai Albany asked about car delivery they don't respect you, they simply said don't come here we will call you when the car is here and finally I got irritated after a long wait, when I went up there asking for my deposit back and cancel the order they simply rejected to give my money back, Manager Harris Bhatti arguing with me and shouted at me no way to give my money back at any cost if you want you can cancel the order anytime it's not refundable. The sales guy on day one when I visited he promised the deposit is completely refundable at any time, but Harris Bhatti argue that he is just a sales guy I am the manager on duty I don't give you a refund back and the sales guy is nowhere involved in this matter. When you visit a car dealer you are going to talk to the salesperson, not the manager directly unless they come and offer you something. They don't stand on their words. This place LIA Hyundai is just overwhelmingly disorganized with full of lies. Better avoid going there and get fooled. Especially when you plan to purchase a new car.

Tried to buy a car for my daughter. I was in Albany for the weekend from LA. I have never had a dealership make it so difficult to buy a car. I wanted to pay cash, the argued. I wanted to register in California, they put up road blocks. I wanted to register in NY, they put up road blocks. When I finally managed to clear all their road blocks, they told me the car had been sold. Matt was the salesman with an attitude, Harris was the manager with all the road blocks. Stay away. Stay far away
